The Hidalgo Society and the Institute for Socio Economic Justice Inc. announce the Dia de la Raza/Max Reyes Festival: Cosechando Recuerdos will take place from from 6 pm to midnight Saturday at SALICO Shed on Malan Street. Rocky Padilla Band will perform as the headliner, with Brawley's Pure Magic opening the event and serving as the entertainment of the after-party at the Revolution Lounge at Hidalgo Hall. As part of the celebration, and Hispanic Heritage Month, the Hidalgo Society chose Dr. Ramon Rodriguez and Liz Gonzales as recipients of Hispanic of the Year for community service. The Dia de la Raza will also feature the appearance of Brawley native and World Series Champion closing pitcher Sergio Romo of the San Francisco Giants.
